Recently one of the leading car maker Volkswagen has revealed its all-new 2018 Polo GTI which is based on the new sixth-generation Polo. The 2018 Polo GTI comes with the Volkswagen’s new EA888 engine series, and its fuel capacity will be 2.0-litre. It is four-cylinder direct injection turbo-petrol engine. This new engine will replace the old 1.8-liter engine.
The engine can produce 197hp at 6,000rpm and 320Nm of peak torque at 1,500rpm to 4,400rpm. The engine has enhanced the top-speed at 237kph sees a small bump of 5kph.The engine will have a six-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) which will be followed by a six-speed manual transmission.
The Polo GTI comes with fully digital instruments. The car will come with the host of driver-assistance systems. It will offer City Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Monitoring, Blind Spot Monitor, proactive occupant protection system and Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.
The vehicle will have a 6.5-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 300W sound system from Beats. The car will also come with an 8.0-inch touchscreen option. The vehicle will have Mirror Link, Android Auto, and Apple Car Play. Apart from this, the car will be equipped with Car-net application and using it the drivers can access all the Google Media apps.
The car will have an upgraded and tuned springs, auxiliary springs, shock-absorbers and anti-roll bars and will come with 15mm lower body.
Volkswagen has also introduced the Polo GTI R5, designed for motorsport series like the WRC. Talking about its technical specifications, the GTI R5 will come with a smaller 1.6-litre engine and will produce 268hp and 400Nm of peak torque. The engine has a 5-Speed racing gearbox and is equipped with a permanent four-wheel drive system. The car can reach 100kph from zero in just 4.1sec. The GTI R5 is expected to be manufactured in Pamplona, Spain. It will get a roll cage and other major safety features.
